2021 RESET Capacity building programme for CLAIM members

 

The support offered through the RESET project in 2021 focuses on capacity building and development of new narratives towards a new campaign for the network that resonates with the broader public (the ‘movable middle’). This is important groundwork before CLAIM implements this new narrative change campaign in 2022. The diagram below provides an overview of the four capacity building options offered to CLAIM members, ranging from staying informed all the way to being part of the team developing new narratives and the campaign.

We developed this multi-pronged programme based on your strategic communications needs and interests, and the following are features of the programme design:

  • The 4 options are designed to address the different interests and time/resources available among network members.
  • The 4 options are designed to progressively entail more commitment, i.e. option 1 = lowest level of time commitment and option 4 = greatest time commitment.
  • Every participation in each and every option matters! A network is only as strong as each member’s engagement, and at the level which fits for each member.
  • Each is offered independently and you can participate in more than one option! For example, you can request a short workshop for your organisation (option 2) and then also attend the New Narratives Lab (option 4).

Option 1:

Stay informed

Follow developments on narrative change work of CLAIM and gain access to strategic communications resources and research
  • Updates shared via newsletter and at CLAIM’s network meetings
  • Online strategic communications resources on RESET website and ICPA Toolkit

When: throughout the year

How: Follow CLAIM’s newsletters and attend strategic communications sessions at the annual network meeting

Option 2:

Orientation & build awareness

Short narrative change workshop for your organization or network to build awareness or to support a communications project
  • A workshop is approx. 2-3 hours
  • Offered online, and in person when possible
  • The session is tailored to address your needs & interests

When: offered by ICPA throughout 2021

How:

  • Costs covered by ICPA and max. 5 workshops offered in 2021 on a first come, first served basis

Option 3:

Build skills

Strategic communications workshop for a group of German and international participants

(example syllabus from a strategic communications workshop held in November 2019)

  • 2-day workshop in Berlin
  • Workshop content focused on German and international narrative change practice

When: Autumn 2021

How:

  • 7 places reserved for CLAIM members on a first come, first served basis
  • Travel and event-related costs covered by ICPA

Option 4:

Build capacity & develop new narratives/ narrative change campaign

New Narratives Lab – in-depth process to support CLAIM to develop the network’s own new narratives and a campaign targeting the movable middle

  • Structured narrative and campaign development process going step-by-step from building a narrative strategy to campaign materials to message testing
  • Learning and doing through a series of 3 workshops (in Berlin) & 7 mentoring sessions (3 online & 4 in Berlin) run by ICPA experts

  • The Lab is offered to 15 CLAIM members, on a first come, first served basis
  • Travel and event related costs covered by ICPA
